09:00 - 10:30am Planning workshop for a task force comprising representatives from relevant ministries, research institutions, NRENs, academic librarians, tech hubs, and other stakeholders. This group will coordinate the policy drafting and ensure diverse representation. Special interest will be given to the role of quality evaluation of open access journals and books in policy development

11:00am - 12:30pm Brainstorming session on OS infrastructure to pilot/harness to support the implementation of a policy and outline activities to establish community-governed national repository and journal platforms.

After painting the landscape of OA journals and books in Nigeria, we will discuss the reasons why so few sources from Nigeria are indexed by international Indexing Services. We will explain the advantages of being registered in DOAJ or DOAB and describe the easy-to-follow application processes for either Indexing Service. At the end of the workshop, 2 surveys will be launched, one on journals and one on books, where publishers, funders, scholars and other stakeholders can express their ideas on what infrastructures for open science journals and books should look like..
